ASUS Eee PC 901 Wireless Pending
So to start, this isn’t my fix. I found this fix after many many hours of searching. Here’s the source: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=11650 (pj’s post below)
Now the author is “pj”. Don’t know nuthin’ ’bout pj, but the person got it right. Out of the box my ASUS linux beauty worked every time connecting to my wireless. However after some haphazzard BIOS upgrades I started receiving the ole “wireless pending” non-sense.
After many attempts at “sudo boulderdash” and “stand on head, press ctrl-alt-t, yell ‘IE is bloated cheese’ ” and do the same, but only after the earths polar shift - confirmed by the toilet flushing the other direction etc. , did I find pj’s post which has proved effective now 30 for 30 boot ups - easy or advanced mode. I give you Pj’s fix:
“run sudo XandrosFileManager (open the file manager as root)
find file /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/debug
open the file and change the line:
RUN=”no”
to
RUN=”yes”
This is intended to debug the file by putting the results in /tmp/dhclient-script.debug. It does, but the system worked immediately afterwards!
There is a file file /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-exit-hooks.d/debug, but I have not changed that - yet!
Hope that this works for you too”
And that’s all she wrote. You might be wondering what’s a goofball like funkytoad, who codes for windows, be doing with a linux box? Simple, enjoying far far less non-sense, despite what this post may indicate… Why Pj’s fix works is well beyond me? Just hoping to save someone some time. -ft
